Administrative Team
Orlena Whatley I am very excited about the opportunity to partner with each of you this school year and serve as the newly appointed principal of General Smallwood Middle School. Throughout this school year, we will continue to embrace our commitment to excellence and our TERK mindset. We believe in:
In all we do, we will focus on providing our students with an engaging learning environment in which they can all be successful. Our students are destined to excel and I look forward to being a part of their success story. Before coming to Charles County Public Schools, my professional teaching and educational administrative career began in Texas. I taught kindergarten, fourth, and fifth grade for nine years. I have also served as an assistant principal, testing coordinator, and special education coordinator until I was appointed principal of Versia L. Williams Elementary School. I hold a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Houston, and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Texas Wesleyan University. I received my educational leadership and administration certification from the University of Texas at Arlington. I am currently pursuing my doctorate in leadership from the American College of Education. |
